CRICKET
Shamar Joseph has become a hero after his wonderful bowling performance at the Gabba by destroying the Australian batting line-up.
The 27-year-old fast bowler ended the wait for West Indies cricket with a test win in Australia after 27 years.
Shamar lived in Baracara, a village in Guyana, where he used to practice bowling with melted plastic bottles as there was no money to purchase balls.
Due to family problems, he worked as a security guard at a bank in Amsterdam and used to play cricket at the weekends.
Royston Crandon, a former West Indies cricketer, and Damion Vantull noticed him, made him leave his job, and trained him.
He played club cricket in Georgetown and trained with the Guyanese national team, and in a short period of time, he played first-class cricket.
And recently, he made his debut for the West Indies and became a hero. From nowhere to the star of the team is the journey of Shamar Joseph.
