Shashank Singh and Jonny Bairstow: The Power Duo

Recently, on April 26, 2024, the Punjab Kings faced the Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL 2024. Punjab elected to bowl first, and KKR managed to set a target of 262 runs in just 20 overs.

In the return, Jonny Bairstow’s century and Shashank Singh’s quick 68 runs off just 28 balls helped win them the most successful chase in the history of IPL and T20 cricket. They have done something unimaginable.

Punjab Kings pure dominance

Punjab Kings won the toss, and captain Sam Curran decided to bowl first against the knight riders. Sunil Narine and Phil Salt played good knocks. Both played with a strike rate of 200+.

Sunil Narine departed at 71, while Phil Salt lost his wicket at 75. Both gave a terrific start to the team.

Some small, impactful innings by captains Shreyas Iyer, Andre Russell, and Venkatesh Iyer helped KKR set a target of 262 for the Kings.

Arshadeep Singh took two wickets in his bowling spells, where every ball seemed to be a nightmare for the bowlers.

Punjab Kings had another plan.

KKR fans might have thought that it’s not possible to chase down this huge target, but Johnny and Shashank had some other plans.

Prabhsimran Singh came as an impact player and made sure to create an impact in the match too. He scored 54 off just 20 deliveries.

Jonny Bairstow registered his second IPL century against KKR in this high-scoring match.

Shashank Singh, who came to bat later in this inning, started his innings by hitting boundary after boundary and scoring 68 runs with a strike rate of 242 and scoring the winning runs for the team too.
