Shaheen Afridi: Three groups have been formed in the Pakistan team, one is led by Babar Azam, the second is led by Shaheen Afridi and the third is led by Rizwan.
The Pakistan team has been eliminated from this year’s T20 World Cup in the group matches itself. With the cancellation of the USA vs Ireland match, Pakistan’s journey in the tournament came to an end. At the same time, Pakistan has suffered a big embarrassing defeat against the USA in this tournament. In its last match against India, Pakistan was also criticized a lot for losing the match, which the team could have easily won.
After this, the former player of the team revealed that there is factionalism in the Pakistan team and 3 groups have been formed. Now the information given by PCB sources says that the formation of a faction in the team has cost Pakistan dearly.
According to news agency PTI, Pakistan’s unexpected early exit from the T20 World Cup has started discussions about factionalism in the team and the poor performance of senior players. Due to these issues, major changes are expected not only in the team but also in the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). As captain, Babar Azam’s job was to keep the team united, but he failed.

3 groups were formed in the team, 2 players were very angry: Shaheen Afridi
Shaheen Afridi was upset at losing the captaincy and Mohammad Rizwan is upset at not being considered for the captaincy. A team source told PTI, “Three groups have been formed in the team, one is led by Babar Azam, the second group is led by Shaheen Afridi and the third group is led by Rizwan. Amidst all this, the return of Mohammad Aamir and Imad made the situation of the team worse.
The source said-
“The return of Imad and Aamir added to the confusion as it was difficult for Babar to get any meaningful performances from these two. Both of them had not played top-level domestic or international cricket for a long time except in franchise-based leagues. There were also instances where some players were not talking to each other and some of them also tried to please the players leading the three camps of the team.”
A senior PCB official said that Chairman Mohsin Naqvi was well aware of the problems of the team before the World Cup. His close friend and national selector Wahab Riaz informed him about this. The source said about this-
“‘Naqvi held two one-on-one meetings with all the players and asked them to put aside personal issues and focus on winning the World Cup. He also promised to clear all misunderstandings in the team after the World Cup. But in reality it did not help.”
Babar Azam made bad decisions
The source further said,
“I am not defending Babar, but what should a captain do when your main bowler cannot save even 15 runs in the last over against a weak team like America and is giving runs with full tosses? An all-rounder who came back from retirement to win the World Cup for the team has to sit out due to fitness problems, what does the captain have to say on this?
According to PCB sources, the internal strife in the Pakistan team seems to be affecting the performance of the team.
