On Wednesday 8th February, medium Pacer Tom Straker strikes for Australia as Aus defeated Pakistan in a thrilling one-wicket match. He recorded his best figures in the ICC Under 19 cricket World Cup with a six-wicket haul. In his first spell, only Tom Straker took the wickets of Opener Shamyl Hussain (17) and skipper Saad Baig (3) and dragged Pakistan to the backfoot.
Tom Straker shines for Australia
After that, he also scalps the important wicket of half-centurion Azan Awais (52) and cleans up the tailenders in his next spell. In total, he took 6 wickets, giving 24 runs in 9.5 overs. Tom Straker, these figures are now the best in the semi-final of the under-19 cricket World Cup.
Goes past Rabada’s record
Previously, this record was on the name of Kagiso Rabada who had taken 6 wickets, giving 25 runs in the 2014 semi-finals against Australia. Notably, Tom Straker came in as a replacement for Charlie Anderson, who was Australia’s frontline bowler. Meanwhile, he also recorded the 3rd best figure by an Australian in the history of the Under 19 World Cup.

After defeating Pakistan in the nail-biting semi-final game, now Australia will face India in the finals on the 11th of February 2024, which could be a recap of the 2023 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup.
